Listen to your favorite mp3's and watch online various videos

Real Player definitely that is not the usual media player. This is an application with which you are able to watch your favorite movies, listen music, burn Cd's or DVDs or watch various videos on the Internet. The player has four main categories: Now playing, Library, Burn, Online Guide.

With the first one you are able to play very fast your favorite movies or music. To load for instance some mp3 tunes you have to press the Playlist button and in the right corner of the application a white window will appear. To load a folder or a single file you just need to press the plus button.

What i did not like about the player is that it can not play FLAC or APE files. When it comes to this Winamp definitely that is the right choice. When a mp3 track is played with Real Player on the main screen starts to run all kind of visualizations.

In the Library section can be found categories such as Music, Videos, Pictures, Playlists etc. In the library, if you do not have the patience to add manually various folders with media content, you can press "Scan Disk For Media". Basically what this feature does is that it searches automatically for media content in all of your system.

If you don't want that you can very easily choose to scan just a single partition of your hard drive. If you want to set up this media player according to your own taste there is the preferences menu where you have accessible various settings for playback, connection, library, CD, DVD, and others.

In the burn section you can make audio Cd's, Video DVDs etc. Definitely that the player's most interesting feature is the Online Guide. Here you can choose to listen online radios, watch film trailers and videos and play various games. The thing that i don't like is that every time you load a game on the detachable window appear various adds. Every time you have to wait approximately 20 seconds for that annoying add to disappear.

Right near the end of the test i tried to play some HD content. I was surprised to see it was unable to do that. Definitely that this is an application dedicated to those that like to listen only mp3's and watch some regular avi videos. On the plus side Real Player has included a built-in Internet browser.
 
So if you want to listen music in various type of formats choose Winamp or other audio file players because with Real Player you will not be able to do such a thing. However if you want a media tool with which to burn Cd's or DVDs and to watch various online videos then definitely that Real Player is a good choice.

-very useful CD and DVD burner

Bad:

-doesn't play FLAC and APE
-there is no support for HD movies
