Free but very useful video converting utility

Any Video Converter could be best described as a all-in-one video converting application. The size of the installer has only 22MB so definitely that there is no need to worry about a long installation process. After the install procedure is finished and you start the program you will be welcomed by an extremely good looking interface.

The application at its core is very simple. You have an ADD VIDEO button which can be used, just like the name says, to add various videos. After you have selected the video, all the information about the file such as name, duration, format, frame size and fps are displayed under the big ADD VIDEO button.

At the right side of the application you have all the available formats in which you can convert the video file that you have selected including DVD video, MPEG I, II, WMV, MKV etc, audio files such as MP3, WAVE, AAC, WMA, and also Mobile Phone MPEG-4 and Flash Video.

Keep in mind that there are several other formats in which you can choose to convert. Not bad for a free application. After you have decided on the format in which you want your file to be converted then the Next step is to press the CONVERT button. For the test i selected a 85MB video file. The speed definitely that is not the best.

I wonder how much it takes for instance to convert a 4GB video file. Definitely that it will take a pretty long amount of time. The application beside having good converting capabilities also allows you to download videos from various sites such as YouTube, Google, MetaCafe, Nico. What i really like about the download box is that you can choose to download one video at a time or you can add as many as you want in the download list.

However the downloading speed is not the best. When it comes to this, aTube Catcher is certainly much better.
At the top of the main window, Any Video Converter has basic menu elements such as File, Edit or Help. By going at File beside of the fact that you can add various video files you can also Set or Open the Output Folder.

When entering Edit and then Options you find available various settings such as Audio, Video, Online Video etc. A feature that i really like is that you can make the application to shut down your computer when the converting process is completed.

Definitely that this is a good application. It offers you plenty of converting options and on top of that you can download videos from various sites. The only complaint that i have is that the download and converting speed is pretty slow.
