Impressive system information utility
AIDA64 Extreme Edition is an utility for Windows that allows you to check out information about all the components and software installed on your PC.The installation process doesn't take long and the moment the program is launched, you are welcomed by a good looking interface. Beside having a nice interface, the software is also excellent organized.
Basically all the information fields are displayed in the left side of the main window. The Extreme version of AIDA64 offers great details about almost anything that is related to your Windows based machine: Computer, Motherboard, Operating System, Server, Display, Multimedia, Storage, Network, Directx, Devices, Software, Security, Config and Database.
Beside being able to use the utility as an info solution, the program allows you to perform all sorts of benchmarks on your system.
Now lets analyze the software. In the first module, Computer, there are several fields such as Summary, Computer Name, DMI, IMPI, Overclock, Power Management, Portable Computer and Sensor.
Accessing Summary, you have displayed a general overview of your system. You can find out the exact model of your CPU, Motherboard Name and Chipset, the total amount of memory installed, video card, monitor etc.
A section that really caught my attention is Sensor. This allows you to take a look at the temperatures at which some of your components are currently operating.
A very cool feature in Sensor is definitely Cooling Fans. Here the utility shows the RPM of the fans which are installed on various computer parts such as: CPU, Power Supply, GPU.
Motherboard, the second module, beside giving you the opportunity to find out all sorts of useful details about your main board, also allows you to discover information about the areas that are strongly connected with the motherboard: CPU, Memory, Chipset, Bios.
In the Motherboard field the software shows the ID of this particular PC part, Front Side Bus Properties, Memory Bus Properties, Motherboard Physical Info and of course the manufacturer of this component.
Clicking on CPU, in front of you appears useful info related to your processor: Type, Alias, Instruction Set, Original Clock, Multi CPU, CPU Manufacturer, Utilization etc.
In case you want to know exact details about the total amount of Ram memory which is installed on your machine, simply access Memory.. But if you want info related to the frequencies at which the memory modules are operating click on SPD.
If for instance you have on your motherboard more than one memory modules, the application in the section entitled Device Description will show each installed memory module. .
The aspect that i want to mention is that although you have tons of sections and information available, using AIDA64 Extreme Edition is extremely easy.
Operating System, as you can probably guess, shows details about the Windows version that you have on your PC.
However, this is not the only thing which you can analyze in this main category. You can also take a look at all the running processes, the installed system drivers, services etc.
A very cool section in Operating System is UpTime. This is basically a statistic about various actions that have been performed on your PC such as: last shutdown time, last boot time, first boot time, first shutdown time, total reboots etc.
Another excellent category is Display. This field allows you to find out data which is related to the graphic card and the monitor used: GPU, OpenGL, Desktop, Multi-Monitor, Video Modes, Fonts and others.
Switching to Storage, you are displayed great details about the hard drive that can be found inside your system. Beside that, here you also have an area which is dedicated to all of your connected Optical Drives.
The rest of the remaining sections are definitely extremely helpful in discovering all sorts of information related to network, directx, various devices, software, security etc.
The last module of the program about which i really want to say a few words is Benchmark. This enables you to test the performance of your installed memory modules, and CPU.
There are numerous tests from which to choose. After selecting one just make sure that you press F5 on your keyboard or the refresh button located near the top of the program's interface.
Now having a look at the menu located at the top of the main window, Tools is a field which is very similar with the Benchmark category.
However, the difference is that you have available a couple of more advanced tests: Disk Benchmark, Cache and Memory Benchmark, System Stability Test and Monitor Diagnostics.
In Tools can also be seen an information section entitled AIDA64 CPUID. This is very helpful if you want to learn fast and easy general data about you CPU and Motherboard.
Entering File, Preferences, you are provided a massive amount of settings.. The only complaint that i have is that some of them are a bit difficult to be operated.
In case you encounter difficulties in using the software there is available an extensive Help section.
To conclude this review, AIDA64 Extreme Edition is an impressive piece of software. The program formerly known as Everest Ultimate Edition, at this moment could be easily considered the best system information utility.
It has an easy to use interface, shows valuable data about numerous areas related to your computer and the application can also be successfully used as a system benchmarking solution.
