A very stylish and effective application

Google desktop is an application the allows the users to search for their desktop content in a very fast and easy manner. The moment this program is installed a window will appear with the Google Desktop features. Here you can choose from Default Search, Enhanced Search, Sidebar with Gadgets and Additional Settings.

After the install process is complete basically in the right side of the desktop you have displayed in a very stylish manner various kinds of applications. In the default view at the top you have a section with news from all over the world. This is followed by a widget which displays various images.

By pressing click right on this section you have "Open Containing Folder". Here you can add as many images as you want. Next you have a field where you can choose to type various notes. This is followed by a box which is entitled Web Clips. Basically here you can find out a selection with the latest news about various topics.

Right under this section can be seen Google's instant messaging client also known as Google Talk. The last section is basically a search tool. If you would like to add various gadgets you can very easily do that by going at the top of the application and press the + button which is basically an Add Gadgets button. When i entered the gadgets page i can say that i was impressed.

You can download news, sports, lifestyle, finance, tools, fun and games, technology and communication gadgets. On top of that you have useful sections such as All, New, Recommendations, Google Created, Recently Used and Updates. If you want to look for a specific gadget you can always use the search box.

What i like regarding this application is that when opening for example a web browser, the Google desktop will not be covered. This can be accomplished by selecting the always on top option. Basically it becomes an integrating part of the browser.

When going into the options you can operate various settings to the Desktop Search, Google Account Features, Display and Other. A feature that really caught my attention was the Google Integration. What this basically does is that it shows the desktop search results on a Google web page. The application lets you to pick the search locations and for which type of files to search.

What i like about the Google Desktop is that it really fits with the most modern Windows operating system such as Windows 7. Overall this is a pretty cool program. It has plenty of gadgets and very useful search tools.
