Softworld editor's review
Bittorrent is a very popular P2P application. The company that is behind this torrent client also owns uTorrent. In my opinion Bittorrent is a top notch application mainly because of its simplicity. You will definitely not find tons of confusing options and settings. The interface of the program is good looking and is extremely well organized. In the top left corner you will find the box with the torrents.
Lightning fast Bittorrent client
At the top of the list are displayed the torrents that are in the process of downloading. This are followed by the completed, the active and the inactive ones. The rest of the window shows statistics with the torrents: name, size, status, source, seeds, peers, download speed, upload speed, estimated download time etc.
I like a lot Bittorrent because just as uTorrent, it doesn't take lots of system resources. You can easily run up to more than 10 torrents simultaneously and you will be able to use your PC for other applications without any worries. You can even play a game like Crysis while Bittorrent runs intensively.
Beside being able to download various torrents, you can also create them. To do that you need to go to File and then click Create New Torrent. The downloading torrents at any time can be paused, stopped or deleted. Also what is great about this application is that is extremely fast. The only torrent client which is faster than this is uTorrent.
When a download is complete you can choose to make Bittorrent to shut down automatically. Also when the download is finished you can make your computer to hibernate, standby, reboot and shutdown automatically. In the preferences menu you can set up the directory where you want your files to be downloaded, you can set the connection, bandwidth, scheduler, playback etc.
A feature that really caught my attention was the scheduler. With this you can limit the download speed on certain days of the week or for the entire week if you want, you can limit the upload speed and you can apply to all of your torrents the seeding only option. Personally i like a lot Bittorrent. It is not complicated as other torrent clients such as Vuze, there is plenty of speed available and one of the most important things: it is light on your system resources.

BitTorrent is the global standard for delivering high-quality files over the Internet. With an installed base of over 160 million clients worldwide, BitTorrent technology has turned conventional distribution economics on its head. The more popular a large video, audio or software file, the faster and cheaper it can be transferred with BitTorrent. The result is a better digital entertainment experience for everyone.
BitTorrent's software client allows you to quickly download high-quality digital content such as video, music, and games.
BitTorrent is a protocol (a set of rules and description of how to do things) allowing you to download files quickly by allowing people downloading the file to upload (distribute) parts of it at the same time. BitTorrent is often used for distribution of very large files, very popular files and files available for free, as it is a lot cheaper, faster and more efficient to distribute files using BitTorrent than a regular download.
BitTorrent Mainline is a client. A 'client' in this case is a computer program that follows the rules of a protocol. For example, HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) is the protocol used to download web pages and other content - like this page - and your HTTP client (or browser) is the program you use to get those web pages. Some popular browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Opera. To an extent, they all work the same way because they follow the same set of rules. The BitTorrent Mainline client will give you access to the world of content on the protocol in a lightweight, fast and reliable package.
