Great utility for games
Steam is a utility for games which was developed by Valve. The install process of this application doesn't take too long. The moment the installation is complete, Steam will begin to make various updates. When eventually this is accomplished you will be prompted to create a new account.
However if you already have one just write your account name and password. When the application is started you will be welcomed by a great looking interface. The main window is split in four big categories: Store, Library, News and Community.
In Store basically you can purchase PC games and also download various demos for free. In this category you can search for games by genre. However if you want to look for a specific game you can very easily use the search box.
What i like a lot is that the process of buying a game is extremely simple. First of all when clicking on a title that you want to buy you are offered various information about it and all kind of screenshots.
To purchase a game all that you have to do is to press the button Add To Cart. The moment you have pressed this you will be redirected to your shopping cart page. The next step is to press purchase. After your email address has been verified and you press continue you will be sent to a Payment Info section.
In Featured Items can be seen especially the latest game releases and also the ones that are coming soon. Beside that you also have a menu with the best selling titles. An aspect that i really like on this page is that you are offered the chance to purchase games at excellent prices. Despite of the fact that the page is filled with various menus, pictures and information, navigating on it and searching for something that you like is very easy.
An aspect that definitely is extremely appreciated by the MAC owners is that there are also available various games for Mac. In the Recommended For You field basically your friends can recommend you games and the other way around. The moment you download or buy a game at the bottom of the page will appear similar titles to that specific game.
Another section is Videos. Here can be seen especially trailers. You have the most watched videos and also the ones that have been recently uploaded. A section that i really like is Demos. Here can be seen an impressive number of games that can be downloaded completely for free. You have two categories: Just Released and Most Popular.
In the second big category, Library, you have a statistic with all the games that have been recently played, installed etc. If this page is extremely populated you can very easily use the search button if you want to look for a specific game or a simple download.
In News, just like the name says, can be seen news about the latest releases, various updates etc. The last category, Community, is basically just like a small social network. Here you can create a personalized profile, chat with you friends, play games with them etc. Also you can create and join groups and track gameplay stats.
At the top of the main window in the left side you have menus such as Steam, View, Friends, Games and a Help section. In those menus you can operate various changes to your Steam account, view all of your games, downloads, friends list etc. By going at the bottom of the window you can choose to shop for games by genre and category. You also have available a Help section and various tools.
I must say that Steam is a excellent utility. It has a very nice and well organized interface, you can download for free plenty of demos and buy games very easy.

-buying games is extremely easy
-plenty of demos available for download
-good looking and well organized interface
-simple to use
-MAC games section
